WordPress Video Tutorial: Upgrading WordPress 2.0.x to WordPress 2.1

With the release of WordPress 2.1, there have been many people eager to upgrade to the newest version and some who have been intimidated by the upgrade process. To show you how you can manually upgrade your installation of WordPress, I’ve done a quick video tutorial for you.

This video tutorial assumes:

  • Your host has phpMyAdmin (or that you’re using a WordPress back up plugin)
  • You’re running Windows (This is because I use FileZilla. Those on a Mac can still view, and hopefully, learn the upgrade process from the video.)
  • That you have an FTP client installed and understand how to use your FTP client.
  • You’re running a fairly standard installation of WordPress 2.0.x (if you’ve made any modifications to any files, you’ll probably need to make those same modifications to your new 2.1 files)
With all of that out of the way, we can begin the tutorial. You’ll need to have the latest Flash player installed in order to view the video
